Woodard, Nathaniel (1811–1891), founder of the Woodard schools, was born on 21 March 1811, the ninth of twelve children of John Woodard (1769–1840), a gentleman farmer of Basildon Hall, Essex, and his wife, Mary (1773–1836), daughter of Daniell Silley of Southampton.
