Troughton, William (1613/14–1686x90), clergyman and ejected minister, was the son of William Troughton (b. 1584/5?), rector of Waberthwaite, Cumberland, although he once described Westmorland as his native county. He matriculated from Queen's College, Oxford, on 24 October 1634, aged twenty. There is no record of his having taken a degree, and nothing is known of him for the next thirteen years.
