Thompson, Sir Charles, first baronet (c. 1740–1799), naval officer and politician, is thought to have been the illegitimate son of Norborne Berkeley, later Baron Botetourt (1717?–1770), of Stoke Gifford, Gloucestershire, governor of Virginia.
