Palmer, John (1728–1768), actor, was possibly born in Devon of a theatrical family. A sister, Mary Palmer (Mrs Adcock), is known of as an actress, but nothing is recorded of Palmer himself until he was engaged by David Garrick at Drury Lane in 1748.
