Nicholls, Sir George (1781–1865), poor-law reformer and administrator, was born on 31 December 1781 in Trenithen, Cornwall, the eldest son of Solomon Nicholls (1755/6–1793) and his wife, Jane (1760/61–1849), daughter of George Millett of Helstone.
