Macfarlane, Mrs [née Straiton] (fl. 1716–1719), murderer, was the daughter of Colonel Charles Straiton, a zealous Jacobite. An 'extreme beauty', she married the middle-aged John Macfarlane of Edinburgh, writer to the signet and law agent to Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat, when she was about nineteen....
