Leveridge, Richard (1670–1758), singer and composer, was born in the parish of St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, on 19 July 1670, the son of Richard Leveridge and his wife, Mary, née Long. Although he sang on stage for more than fifty years and composed over 160 songs, many to his own words, nothing is known about his education....
