Leopold, Prince, first duke of Albany (1853–1884), fourth and youngest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, was born Leopold George Duncan Albert at Buckingham Palace on 7 April 1853. The birth was the first at which Victoria was assisted by the use of chloroform. He was early diagnosed as a haemophiliac, and suffered from epilepsy; the illness conditioned his entire life. ...
