Layard, Daniel Peter (1721–1802), man-midwife and physician, was the son of Major Layard. On 9 March 1742 he graduated MD at Rheims. In April 1747 he was appointed man-midwife-in-ordinary to the Middlesex Hospital, London, but resigned in 1749 over a dispute concerning the enlargement of the lying-in ward, which caused a split among the hospital's governors. ...
