Kaye, John (1783–1853), bishop of Lincoln, was born on 27 December 1783 at his parents' home in Angel Street, Hammersmith, the only son of Abraham Kaye (1728/9–1823), linen draper, and his wife, Susan Bracken (1739/40–1829). Abraham moved to 17 Friday Street, Cheapside, about 1789, trading there as an importer of French cambric until about 1799....
