Hutchinson, Thomas (1711–1780), colonial politician and historian, was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on 9 September 1711, the son of Colonel Thomas Hutchinson (1674–1739), a wealthy merchant, and his wife, Sarah, née Foster (b. 1686, d. after 1739).
