Hulme, Frederick William (1816–1884), landscape painter, was born at Swinton, Yorkshire, on 22 October 1816. His early training was with his mother, a painter on porcelain. He first exhibited at the Birmingham Academy in 1841, where he showed a landscape; with very rare exceptions thereafter, his contributions were invariably landscapes.
