Heather, William (c. 1563–1627), musician and benefactor, was apparently born at Harmondsworth, Middlesex. Nothing is known of his parentage, though he may have been related to the William Heather who was paid as a music copyist at Magdalen College, Oxford, in the early 1550s. His date of birth of about 1563 is calculated from his testamentary bequest that sixty-four mourning gowns be distributed to so many poor men at his funeral. ...
