Hall, Anthony (1679–1723), antiquary, was born at Kirkbride, Cumberland, the eldest son of Henry Hall (d. 1717), rector of Kirkbride, and his wife, Jane (d. 1720). After some schooling at Carlisle grammar school he matriculated at the Queen's College, Oxford, on 18 November 1698 and graduated BA on 15 December 1701. After his ordination he proceeded MA on 16 June 1704. He was elected fellow of his college on 18 April 1706....
