Gundulf (1023/4–1108), bishop of Rochester, was born in the Norman Vexin to Hatheuin and Adelisa in 1023 or 1024. No text mentions any other relatives, so he may well have been of modest birth, but his parents seem to have destined him for a clerical career from early in his life....
