Greenhill, Thomas (fl. 1698–1732), surgeon and author, was the son of William Greenhill (d. 1681) of Greenhill, in Harrow, Middlesex, counsellor-at-law and secretary to General Monck, and Elizabeth, daughter of John Jones, of London. Most of the basic details of his life are a matter for conjecture. Essential parish papers have been mutilated, so his birth date remains obscure, but he was probably not born in 1681 as has been suggested.
