Goodwin, Arthur (d. 1643), politician, was the only surviving son of Francis Goodwin (1564–1634) of Upper Winchendon, Buckinghamshire, and his wife, Elizabeth (d. 1630), daughter of Arthur Grey, fourteenth Baron Grey of Wilton (1536–1593). The Goodwins, established in Buckinghamshire since the mid-sixteenth century, became a leading gentry family and one of those which monopolized the county parliamentary seats. ...
