Conran, Anthony Edward Marcell [Tony] (1931–2013), poet, was born on 7 April 1931 in Kharghpur, Bengal, India, the son of Denzil Arthur Stewart Conran (1904–1976), an engineer on the Indian railways, and his wife, Clarinda Wynne, née Jones (1903–1988).
