Millan, Bruce (1927–2013), politician, was born on 5 October 1927 at 22 Kinloch Street, Dundee, the eldest of three sons of David Millan and his wife, Robina, née Smith. His father was a caulker in Dundee's Caledon shipyard facing frequent periods of unemployment (he later worked as a street sweeper), while his mother worked in the jute mills to supplement the family income. ...
