Buchan [née Simpson], Elspeth (c. 1738–1791), founder of the Buchanites, was born in Banffshire, the daughter of John Simpson and Margaret Gordon (d. c.1741), who kept an inn at Fitmy-Can, halfway between Banff and Portsoy, Banffshire.
