Patten, Robert (fl. 1715–1718), Jacobite chaplain and writer, is of unknown parentage and upbringing. He had served as a curate at Penrith in Cumberland, and was occupying a similar position at Allendale in Northumberland when the 1715 Jacobite rising began. He led a party of keelmen from there to join the rebels, and on meeting a number of Scots on their way home to join the Jacobite forces persuaded them to join him. At ...
