Beard, John Relly (1800–1876), Unitarian minister and educationist, was born on 4 August 1800 at 24 Charlotte Row, Landport, Portsmouth, the eldest of the nine children of John Beard (1775–1831) and his wife, Ann Paine (1777/8–1864).
